Tell Legislators to Protect and Support all Californians
In California, we are asking the State to:
- Ensure that every affected worker receives the training, guidance, equipment, and supplies we need to stay safe and keep the public safe
- Require paid sick days for all workers
- Protect the most vulnerable through additional support as they self-isolate
- Expand testing for workers and our clients
- Meet the needs of frontline workers, such as child care
- Guarantee economic survival for working families during this crisis through: eviction protections, utilities maintenance, expanded unemployment insurance, and emergency food support
What you can do:
- Share your Story: Whether you’re a frontline worker or are experiencing an impact on your family and community.
- Take Action: Sign our California State petition
- Find Resources: Connect to the State or your local union for local advocacy

SEIU California: In Face of $54 Billion Projected Deficit, Frontline Workers Call on Federal Government to Invest In Our Communities
The projected deficit is a powerful flare that lights up the dangers ahead, and we know that the dangers will not be faced equally. Working families, immigrant families, and communities of color are facing higher rates of unemployment, small business loss, housing insecurity, and hunger. We are facing a catastrophic crisis of inequality.
SEIU Workers Back Standards for Safe, Inclusive November Election
SEIU members believe that democracy works best when every voice has an equal chance to be heard and every Californian has easy, safe access to our voting process. Whether you are white, black, brown, API; whether you speak English, Spanish, Tagalog, Armenian, or any other language; whether you are a renter or a homeowner or homeless – every single one of us must have the ability to cast a ballot easily and safely
With Workers’ Compensation Executive Order, Governor Newsom Shows California Values Our Most Essential, Diverse Workers
Governor Newsom’s executive order is an important step toward showing each and every worker they are valued, whether they are caring for the sick or for our fragile aging and disabled populations, providing early education for the children of essential workers, or keeping our airports, hospitals and public spaces clean.
California SEIU Members Decry Trump’s Hateful Immigration Order
It is sickening, but frankly not surprising, that Trump is exploiting a devastating global pandemic to advance his divisive, anti-immigrant agenda. Attacking immigrants who only want what we all want – to create a better life for our families – won’t heal a single person put in jeopardy by Trump’s failed leadership.

SEIU Praises First Step Toward Relief for Immigrant Families, Calls for State Commitment to a Recovery for All
Today’s announcement of a $125 million relief fund for workers and their families left out of federal stimulus aid and the state’s unemployment insurance system is a welcomed first step to a much larger set of investments needed to ensure a Recovery for All. With more than one million California households including a worker who is undocumented, this early funding is just the beginning of what’s needed to help all families put food on the table now and begin the hard work ahead to rebuild what the virus has destroyed.
